UMW Challenge
At the February 17th meeting members of the UMW were given the challenge to see fasting, a common Lenten spiritual practice, in a new way. The program, "Lent: This is the Fast I Choose", suggested an action plan in which individuals could fast from a luxury such as buying coffee or lunch at least once a week during Lent and donate the money saved to a mission project. Those who join in this effort will give this money to Linda Watson or Georgia Poinsett at the close of Lent. The proceeds to be given to support our own church team participating in a mission trip to Iowa which is set up to reconstruct homes in that flood torn area. The UMW would like to extent this opportunity to all members of the congregation!

March 12 & 13 - Capital District Resource Day - "I REFUSE TO LEAD A DYING CHURCH"

Times: Thursday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Thursday 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (Laity session)
Friday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Our workshop leader is Rev. Paul Nixon, an ordained United Methodist minister. God invites every congregation to thrive. Paul Nixon believes the future of the church is in the hands of pastors and lay leaders who must immediately make some critical choices, radically reframing the way they approach their ministry tasks: Choosing Life over Death, Community over Isolation, Fun over Drudgery, Bold over Mild, Frontier over Fortress, and Now rather than Later.

Laity that are available during the day are encouraged to attend the daytime sessions with their pastor. There is a $10 cost for each day for lunch and an RSVP is needed one week prior to the event. There is no cost for the evening session. If you are interested in attending the daytime sessions talk to Pastor George.
